March 18 Statewide Incubators All Hands Meeting Summary: Sharing Innovation, Promoting Replication, and Inspiring Expansion

Chapel Hill, NC - This year's Incubator All Hands meeting, held at the William & Ida Friday Center, would not have been the success that it was without the over 60 guests present from around the state to embrace the day's theme: Sharing Innovation, Promoting Replication, and Inspiring Expansion. In attendance were health directors and their staff both in participating and non-participating counties, partnership coordinators, program managers, research partners, representatives from the Division of Public Health and UNC at Chapel Hill School of Public Health, and guest of honor Senator William Purcell, MD, representing Anson, Richmond, Scotland, and Stanly counties.

This year, Incubators recognized NC Legislators for their continued support of Public Health Incubators. There to accept his award was long time supporter and advocate, Senator William Purcell, who shared with the audience his continued commitment to the Incubator Collaboratives and NC public health. Awards will be distributed to legislators unable to attend the meeting by health directors.

Highlights from the statewide meeting included "Innovation, Evidence, and Strengthening Incubator Projects: Collaborations between Practice & Scholarship and Ideas for Replication" and a round table session where points of interest and projects intersected. Some of the several topics and tools shared were: streamlined internship guides for public health; best practices in family planning maternity care, and WIC; and advances in information technology for health departments.
