NC Diabetes Education Recognition Program Granted Recognition by the American Diabetes Association
On May 20, 2008, the NC Diabetes Education Recognition Program was officially granted recognition by the American Diabetes Association. As a result, pilot counties will be able to move forward with diabetes self-management education shortly.
“We are so grateful for the support of the Incubator project. Without it, this program would likely not have gotten off the ground,” says Laura Edwards, Program Coordinator. Given the success of the first cohort of four local health departments, the program has now expanded to at least double the number of health departments that participate in the second cohort, thus growing the program more quickly than originally planned.
“We're excited about the opportunities before us and the ability to make a difference in the lives of North Carolinians with diabetes,” concludes Laura. Her enthusiasm is shared with local health directors throughout the state.
